Sports Massage for Athletes

What is Massage Therapy?

We believe in providing quality care that will make a difference, and therefore every session includes an assessment of your issues, and objective charting of your range of movement, function, and pain.

Each massage therapy program is designed to suit the needs of the individual. We treat athletes, CrossFit competitors, and runners to aid in performance and avoid injury. We treat both pre-and post-natal mothers to help with pain management and help them deal with the challenges they face while caring for their baby.

Finally, we treat those suffering from chronic pain issues in their neck, back, hips, or legs, who need help with their symptoms while they work to find a solution.

Stretch Therapy is a one on one session with a qualified therapist, who will listen to your mobility concerns or training issues, and work with you to reduce muscle tension, restore movement, decrease pain, improve athletic performance and reduce recovery time. It can also improve posture, aid sleep, and decrease stress.

Lack of flexibility can come from overworked muscles, tight fascia around a specific joint, or restricted movement such as sitting at a desk. One method we use is Active Isolated Stretching, a dynamic technique that gets results fast and safely, without activating the Stretch or Myotatic reflex, that is, without locking up the muscle.

Finding time to fit deep stretching into your routine can be hard, so let our therapists do the work for you. Each session will be tailored to your needs that day, and with repeat visits, you will wonder how you ever managed without it. You will feel the immediate benefit and no doubt walk away with a feeling of increased movement and relief.

Some common complaints that can be alleviated with deep, assisted stretching:

  • A strength and conditioning program that requires improved shoulder mobility

  • An intense running schedule that leaves heavy legs and a burning Achilles

  • Pain across the upper back and shoulders from hunching over a laptop

  • Lower back strain and shortened hip flexors from long periods of sitting

  • Postural imbalances as a result of carrying children or heavy bags in the same position

  • Relief from a period of long-distance travel, where your body has been forced into cramped plane seats

Denis Najafov RMT

Denis completed his Massage Therapy training at Robertson College in June 2017. Since graduating, he has worked with patients in various clinical settings. He is particularly interested in sports therapy and enjoys working to help athletes recover from setbacks.

Denis has experience using various myofascial release techniques such as deep tissue and IASTM and he uses these techniques to help patients with muscle pain and tightness. He looks to identify and reverse muscle pain that results from work postures, dysfunctional movement patterns, and sustained postures.

In his free time, he loves to stay active by going to the gym, swimming, and playing soccer.

I went in with headaches that would not go away and Denis loosened up my shoulders and showed me some stretches. Don't expect any "extras" you would find at a spa.

I love this place. I’ve seen Denis and he's great. Love that there’s an online booking option.

After the first session with Denis it was clear he really knew what he was doing. We did some diagnostic movements to see what was wrong, then he performed a range of effective massage points combined with movements. I was given some exercises and stretches to do at home and now my arm is much better!

Highly recommended.

Denis is the best massage therapist, I've seen dozens. I'm pretty racked up with major lower and upper back pain. I left pain free can't wait to go back.
